Welcome to Issue 24 of The Pipe and Ball Chronicle, the E-Newsletter of Gloucester City Hockey Club. Many thanks to all of you for taking the time to download this E-Newsletter. We are grateful for your time and hope you appreciate this insight into the club. With the season well underway, may we take this opportunity to remind all members that subscriptions are now due! Annual subscription (club affiliation fee) for the 2008/2009 season is £50.00 for all members, but will be discounted to £40.00 if paid in full by 31st October 2008. Please speak to your team captain for further details.
Off the pitch, the Social Committee have been hard at work behind the scenes and are delighted to announce the return of the Club Christmas Party.
This years' seasonal festivity will take place on Saturday 6th December at Teague's Bar in Gloucester. The format for the evening is a 'Dead Famous' themed fancy dress. 'Dead Famous' celebrates the lives of the famous of whom are sadly no longer with us. So... dust off your Marilyn Monroe wig, dig out your Elvis one-piece suit and re-discover your John Lennon beatle costume and come along and join in with the festivities! Tickets are available from Andrew Tyrrell and Jo Roberts and are priced at £10 per person, which includes entry to the event, buffet and karaoke. There will also be a Christmas bumper hamper prize raffle. To avoid disappointment, please be aware that we have limited tickets for this event due to the capacity of the venue. Tickets are selling very fast!! More details about the Christmas Party and other forthcoming social events will be posted to the website in due course.
Finally, good luck to the Ladies' 1st XI who host Epsom in Round 2 of the EH Cup on Sunday 12th October and also to the Men's 2nd XI who have drawn Eastcote at home in the EH Trophy on Sunday 19th October. Both ties will be contested at St Peters RC School in Gloucester. More details including push back times have been posted on the website.

The Gloucester City Hockey Club Bonus Ball fundraising scheme has raised much needed funds since October 2004. To participate, all you need to do is select an available number between 01 and 49, pay £2.00 per week (via standing order) and if your number comes up on the main Saturday National Lottery draw, you win £50.00.
There are currently nine available numbers, to join the Bonus Ball scheme or for more details, please speak to Emma Done.
